About Me

I am a city girl marrying a country boy - and I couldn't be more excited about it!! I love everything vintage, and I'm currently planning my wedding! I have a cute, crazy dog named Jack who is a miniature husky. I am getting another puppy through Jonathan - a basset hound named Ellie Mae :) I'm a graphic designer, and try my hardest to be crafty and make cute things (although I'm not very successful so far haha!). I love my family, Christ, and my wonderful, amazing fiance!

First Tutorial!

This tutorial I originally saw in an arts and craft magazine at the bookstore (can't remember the name of it....next time I go I'll write it down and post it).

Ok so here is the final product of the rose that I made out of ribbon.

Here is what you will need:
  1. Wired ribbon (you could probably use regular ribbon, but it would be more difficult to manage)
  2. Hot glue gun (I got mine from Hobby Lobby for $3)
  3. Scissors

First Step: don't cut the ribbon (you will use more than you think you will). Fold one corner of the ribbon down to meet the edge to make a triangle, then fold again to make another triangle. This fold will make the center of the rose. I secured this with a drop of glue.

Second Step: wrap and twist the ribbon around the center you just made. Don't be afraid to twist a lot! Secure the ribbon after each wrap.

Third Step: wrap the end of the ribbon around the bottom to make it nice and neat and tidy :) after I finished, I pressed the flower together to flatten it a bit which seemed to really show off the "petals."

This was my first attempt and I think it turned out pretty good! I'm feeling kinda crafty :)

More Invitations!!

These are both from Minted.com. I love both of them!! I'm really leaning towards the first one though :) I love the script font used, plus the serif font is almost the same as the one used on my engagement party invitations.

10 Mistakes

This is from the knot, but I thought that it was a good list to just keep in mind.....I'm definitely guilty of a couple of these lol :)

  1. Doing anything before the guest list is complete
  2. Overwhelming your fiance with wedding details (they really only care about marrying you)
  3. Freaking out because someone else has your gown
  4. Changing your mind about colors or details 2 months before the wedding
  5. Trying to drop two sizes before your final fitting
  6. Doing it all yourself (GUILTY!)
  7. Overloading your mom's big day to-do list (she wants to enjoy the wedding too)
  8. Crying over mismatched linens (no one is really going to notice)
  9. Blowing your budget
  10. Saving your placecards for the morning-of (I DEFINITELY need to get on the ball about getting all my diy projects done!)

Hope this helps some of you!

Almost there!!

180 days until my sweet and wonderful fiance, Jonathan get married!

It's been a wonderful 8 months being engaged to you, and and even more wonderful 10 years of knowing you. I am truly blessed to have you in my life!

Letterpress

I love the look of letterpress. Even a simple design is made so elegant by the pressed ink in the thick cotton paper. A little pricy, but it would be sooo worth it!!

These are all by Bella Figura. I really like the first one with the tree.

These two are by Wiley Valentine. They also do custom designs. I love the idea of having a circular rehearsal dinner invite tucked into the wedding invitation.

Very cool and vintage!

Ok, I love this tea set!! It's so 60's! Stark!Vintage :)

Etsy Goodness

About a year ago, I discovered Etsy. It was literally love at first click! I have been looking around recently for some unique and vintage centerpiece ideas for our wedding, and I found these different vases and things. Arranged together, I think it would look really pretty. I especially LOVE the milk jugs! Adds a bit of country and vintage charm :)

The sellers that these are from are: Whitney Smith Pottery, Ceramics by Lisa, Little Kitten Vintage, Vintage Crush, Two Ring Circus, Cottonridge Emporium Vintage, Carol Mai's Vintage Clothing & Delights, and Xtravisual, respectively. They have a lot of other cool vintage items, so look them up!

Where in the World.....?

Ok, so my fiance and I have been trying to figure out a place to on our honeymoon......we have been to the mountains, the beach, the caribbean, out west. I think the top place is Jekyll Island, GA. Here are some pics from the top 50 honeymoon spots from the wonderful knot.com:

Gorgeous St. Lucia and Napa Valley

Love the blue roofs!

Here are some pics from Jekyll Island (helpfully supplied by Google):

It looks so pretty! And really relaxing - plus we could easily go back there for another vacation. This might definitely be winning out :)
